If you are interested in travel and field research for yourself or your students, cross cultural education and international collaborations, you will benefit from attending this workshop! I will be leading participants through the philosophy and core actions of global education, including connecting to others, developing cross-cultural communication skills, and taking action to solve problems on the local and global level. During this workshop I will review opportunities for teachers including TGC, Fulbright-Hays, and more, as well as platforms for collaboration scuh as iearn.  A representative from AFS will be present to answer questions about federally sponsored scholarships and travel opportunities for high school students such as YES and NSLI-Y.  Participants will leave the workshop with the tools and resources needed to develop project-based learning and global citizenship initiatives in their own classrooms, and platform for sharing their projects with peers.

Vimg_3360isiting Dutch artist Kathie DiStefano, from our sister city of Rotterdam, will be co-facilitating to discuss the upcoming global collaborative “Eco-News Art Project.” Tying in with her work with Avalanche Arts for over a decade, she will lead students in planning, writing, filming and producing an environmentally themed video news show.
