Every year, Arts Every Day’s 10×10 Exhibit provides a platform for Baltimore City students and teachers to create art pieces that respond to a culturally relevant body of work. They are encouraged to create 10in x 10in portraits or a short performance that celebrate themes of family gathering, every day urban life, and storytelling.
For our 2018 Exhibit, we are inviting teachers and students to be inspired by the life and work of Jacob Lawrence and Joan Gaither. Jacob Lawrence, a painter and printmaker, and Joan Gaither, a story quilt artist, both have retrospective exhibitions at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. We chose Lawrence and Joan Gaither as our featured artists because of their unique perspectives in visualizing history and community traditions. This #givingtuesday, we are planning to raise $2,000 to support the production of this inspirational exhibit.
